First Lego League 2024 Training Workshop

For ages: 7 and above
(Children born between 2008 to 2015 are eligible)

The workshop will equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to design, build, and program robots for the First Lego League (FLL) 2024-themed “Masterpiece”. Topics covered are:

  1. Introduction to Robotics: The workshop will begin with an introduction to robotics, including the different types of robots, the various components that make up a robot, and the basics of robotics programming.
  2. Robot Design: Participants will learn how to design robots that are fit for purpose and meet the First Lego League requirements. They will learn about the design process, from concept to final prototype, and explore the different design considerations for robots in different categories.
  3. Robot Construction: Participants will learn how to build robots using various materials, tools, and techniques. They will learn how to assemble and test robots to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet competition requirements.
  4. Robot Programming: Participants will learn the basics of robot programming via the Lego Spike App to program their robots. They will learn about sensors, actuators, and controllers and how to use them to control their robots.
  5. Testing and Optimization: Participants will learn how to test and optimize their robots to ensure they are ready for the First Lego League. They will learn to troubleshoot common problems and optimize their robots for maximum performance.
  6. Competition Strategy: Participants will learn about the rules and regulations of the First Lego League and how to develop a winning strategy. They will learn about team dynamics, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills, which are crucial to success in the competition.

Workshop Requirements:

Participants should have an interest in robotics and programming. They should also have a laptop computer or tablet with administrative privileges to download and install the software required for programming and testing their robots. Participants are encouraged to bring their robotics kits for practice, but the workshop will also provide kits for participants who do not have them. Only designated robotic equipment assigned and approved by “STEM Institution” shall be used for the competition.

Expected Outcome:

Participants will leave the workshop with a good understanding of the principles of robotics and the skills and knowledge required to design, build, and program robots for the First Lego League. They will be equipped with the tools and techniques to troubleshoot and optimize their robots for maximum performance and have a winning competitive strategy.

Fee Structure:

$270 nett for every four (4) sessions attended. Each session is 2 hours. There are no other hidden fees.
