Lego Robotics Programme (DSA) – Spike Essentials

For ages: 6 to 8

In this programme, children will engage in a mix of hands-on and screen learning. Students will learn to problem-solve and come up with solutions through story-telling and computational thinking using the Lego Robotics Spike Essentials kit. Pupils will get to work through a series of activities and worksheets as well as building and coding/programming their creations.

What the children will learn:

  • Designing and building robots using the kits
  • Understanding order and programming their creations
  • Work collaboratively with teammates to create a prototype
  • Troubleshoot and debug their robots through problem–solving
  • Make use of computational thinking to solve problems

Workshop Requirements:

Participants should have an interest in robotics and programming. They should also have a laptop computer or tablet with administrative privileges to download and install the software required for programming and testing their robots. Participants are encouraged to bring their robotics kits for practice, but the workshop will also provide kits for participants who do not have them. Only designated robotic equipment assigned and approved by “STEM Institution” shall be used for the competition.

Expected Outcome:

Participants will leave the workshop with a good understanding of the principles of robotics and the skills and knowledge required to design, build, and program robots for the First Lego League (FLL), National Robotics Competition (NRC), World Robotics Olympics (WRO) or equivalent. They will be equipped with the tools and techniques to troubleshoot and optimize their robots for maximum performance and have a winning competitive strategy.

Fee Structure:

$275 nett for every four (4) sessions attended. Each session is 2 hours. Pricing excludes the competition registration fee, if any.
