For Ages: 9 to 14 years old
Objective:
This 24-hour MakeX workshop aims to introduce participants to innovative design, problem-solving, and prototyping. It seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the product development process, empowering attendees with the necessary skills to convert ideas into tangible prototypes using cutting-edge technology and design tools.
Lesson Structure:
Lesson 1: Introduction to MakeX & Understanding the Rules (2 hours)
Lesson 2: Conceptualization and Planning (2 hours)
Lesson 3 to 5: Building Your Robot (6 hours)
Lesson 6 to 8: Introduction to Programming with mBlock (6 hours)
Lesson 7: Test and Refine (2 hours)
Lesson 8 to 10: Mock Competition and Final Refinements (6 hours)
Workshop Requirements:
Participants should have an interest in robotics and programming. They should also have a laptop computer or tablet with administrative privileges to download and install the software required for programming and testing their robots. Participants are encouraged to bring their robotics kits for practice, but the workshop will also provide kits for participants who do not have them. Only designated robotic equipment assigned and approved by “STEM Institution” shall be used for the competition.
Expected Outcome:
Participants will leave the workshop with a good understanding of the principles of robotics and the skills and knowledge required to design, build, and program robots for the MakeX or equivalent. They will be equipped with the tools and techniques to troubleshoot and optimize their robots for maximum performance and have a winning competitive strategy.
Fee Structure:
$275 nett for every four (4) sessions attended. Each session is 2 hours. Pricing excludes the competition registration fee.
Note: Dear parents, building a robot for a competition like MakeX is a process of continuous learning and iteration. This schedule provides an initial plan, but we might adjust it based on the team’s strengths, weaknesses, and progress. Our objective is to let the children have fun and learn as much as possible, regardless of the competition outcome.
